He has already played so his red shirt is off. So, let er rip. http://www.tigerforums.com/showthread.php?t=44147&highlight=redshirt
I agree with you, but if they are going to go with someone inexperienced to return punts then they should go with Holliday not Williams. I think this staff is doing some damage control at this position now and they want someone with more experience handling the ball. I think Davis is a good fit. If they would have used Holliday in the rent-a-wins to get him some experience I don't think we would be having this discussion and I don't think Davis would have to step in. This decision by the coaches is a lot more complicated than deciding who will have the most "energy".
Think medical redshirt, which he would qualify for if he has a hangnail. He has not played in more than 20% of the games this year. If he plays this weekend, he has no shot at a medical. It would be crazy to burn a whole year if he only plays in mop up duty.
Oh thank God it took Miles until after the Florida game to see what the fans have been seeing all along. Whew. Good thing he waited.
I agree. I hope he gets the medical but I'm not sure it will happen. I know he has an "ankle injury" but we will see. Hasn't Williams played in all of the home games but MSU? Thats 1/4 of the season, 25%. Woudn't that mean the medical is out?
I think the medical redshirt possibility is out the window with him. He practiced at full speed along with Scott this week. I think Keiland is the best potential back we have for the long-run. I hear he is Bush like and he has good expierence playing at the prep school. We need to get him comfortable and ready for next season. :geauxtige
It's not limited to home games. It can't be more than 20% of all regular season games, which is rounded up to 3 games, and the injury has to occur during the 1st half of the season. Kentucky is game 7, so if he plays, he can't get a medical.
I was not endorsing Williams as the person to do returns. Just giving a name of a player that is not used for comparison purposes. I'd LOVE to see Holliday do the returns full time (note my tfl team).
That's what I was saying. 3/12 is 25%. I didn't mean only home games. I just said that because he has played in 3 home games. So if you round up to 3 that means his shirt is up?
20% X 12 games = 2.4 games. The .4 would technically be at the 6 minute mark in the 2nd quarter of the 3rd game. That would be difficult to administer as a cutoff point, so they include the entire 3rd game. Long story short, you can play in no more than 3 games during the 1st 6 games to be eligible for a medical. That's my understanding.
