They don't tell me how to do my job and I don't tell them how to do theirs. Frankly, Red, I am not well versed in the inner workings of foreign policy nor am I privy to all of the information that is made available to those charged with making decisions. Therefore, I have no need to throw my opinions out there for the sole purpose of complaining and/or trying to impress others with my grasp of the situation. Iraq is a difficult situation. How we got into the fray is of little import. To bash 5 year old decisions is pointless. In 2001, the climate was much different than it is now. Bush wants out of Iraq, but he wants out on terms favorable to the US, but not necessarily favorable to his party affiliation. 99.9% of the critics are politically motivated so I place no stock in their opinions. In short, I am an observer with no interest in telling Bush how to do his difficult job. Nobody with anything to do with Iraq cares what I think, nor should they. If you can't understand that, there's no need for me to try make my position any clearer.
Nor am I, but that doesn't prevent anyone from having opinions. It's a political forum, SF, this is where we talk politics. But the post I made was addressing war with Iran. The remark about Iraq sapping our military and economic strength was valid and not rehashing five years ago. It was suggesting something to do now. Many of us feel that he wants out on terms favorable to his personal sense of resolve rather than what is in the best interests of the United States. I think you underestimate your fellow citizen. Most of us are motivated by the decline in readiness, power, prestige, and moral highground that has happened. We want it to stop and be reversed. Well, fine then. So why keep telling me that I don't know chit and that I shouldn't care about it? I'm an observer with a interest in how my country is led.
I guess I'm just too humble to criticize that which I don't know anything about. I didn't say you don't know chit, Red. Quite the contrary. You are entitled to your opinions and to express them freely. We're cut from different cloth on the issue of vocalizing criticisms.
So you won't criticize President Hillary's foreign policy in 2 years?:hihi: I gotta see that one to believe it...
Right from the always truthful mouth of our lovely Hillary talking about President Bush: Interesting that she was one of those that voted for it.
As a presidential candidate, she should be telling us her plan for Iraq. As of now, her only plan is to blame Bush. I suspect she's hoping like hell Bush pulls out of Iraq before she has to come up with her own plan.
