is the rule only in the nfl when you fumble within the 20 i think that its marked from the point of the fumble plus they dont stop the clock? this is to prevent intentional fumbling for that reason to stop the clock or to get a cheap score when you have no other options. plus i think its only within 2 minutes of each half.
We were wondering the same thing at my house. Why in the hell was the ball marked inside the 1. It should've been marked where the ball went out, not where Leinhart fumbled the ball. It appears the no replay vote by Pete worked in his favor. But if you notice in the picture, the ref on the right side can't even see out of his hat. No wonder they missed the push and marke the ball at the wrong spot. The ref looks like mushmouth off of Fat Albert, with the hat pulled down to his nose.
I'm not sure of the NFL rule, but I'm pretty sure Bob Davie or Lou Holtz would have made a point to tell us of any such rule in college. You could tell they were searching for something to claim ND got screwed. :hihi:
Not at first. I'll take my lumps now. After I posted I went back and realized that hat was entirely too big, and then the light went off. I was too lazy to edit my post, so I deserve some abuse for my lack of recognizing Photoshop.
I want the officials to call the damn game the way the rule book states. If pushing in the back is a penalty then by God call it. The refs dont get to choose which rules they like and which rules they dont. That is why it is so unfair because you get the LSU crap call against Auburn which is a rule but is never called. They either have to call the game by the rules or they dont. Yes to the consistency. I was hollaring at the TV when it happenned because i knew the rule and the refs did not enforce it. And to say that the long pass is the reason ND shouldnt deserve to have the refs enforce the rules is just plain ignorance. I guess if you use that saying then LSU defense giving up the 4th down pass to Auburn meant that the refs should screw us because we let them get a first down. And by the way sometimes cheaters do win. USC is still undefeated arent they.
