According to the article it is a media story that has been called a myth by the Russian Government. Sounds like "someone" is spreading some disinformation suggesting that Iran might actually be attacked. A thing like that could spook ordinary Iranians who have no investment in a war which could ruin them.

Actually it says that Iran and Hizbullah are expecting Iran to be struck by the US this summer. Sounds like the sabre rattling is working. :thumb:

I guess exciting was the wrong word to use because I didn't mean it to sound like i'm looking forward to it. I can't think of a better word to use though.

Yea, apparently I totally misread that one as Iran going to strike US interests. My bad.

I believe it when I see the British hostages released other wise Iran's diplomacy means nothing.
American's were held hostage in Iran for an awful long time under Iran's diplomacy!

I admit I was wrong you win!
I just think that sometimes we should reconsider how and why we do what
we do without thinking about it.
I'm not against the Geneva convention really I just wasn't sure if it was still
    a valid point.
The point i was trying to make about interrogation and torture is that the line is often crossed over quite easily.
I have no problems with whatever means necessary to get information from
enemy forces if it prevents Americans from dying.
I happily admit I have a double standard when it comes to my country!

I don't think they will drag it out too long, this thing backfired on them. They are just waiting for it to get off the front page now.

It was never their intent to drag this out. As usual, they wanted something and it looks like they will get what they wanted.

I don't see us giving up Iranian Revolutionary Guardsmen. If they actually were diplomats, sure. But these guys were caught in the act of gun running.

We can't get involved in a tit-for-tat prisoner exchange or kidnappings will happen all over. No Westerner will be safe.

The Brits can snatch Iranians off oil rigs with ease if they need bargaining chips. I don't think they will.

Sounds like Blair was surprised, they may have got nothing. Ahmadinejad may be a committed islamist troublemaker, but he has proven to be smart and very crafty. I suspect Ahmadinejad realized that they were getting more bad PR than anything else. He may also be in a power play with the Revolutionary Guard, who answer to the mullahs, not to the President.

There has been much speculation that the Revolutionary Guard captured these sailors without authority, upset over the capure of RG agents in Iraq last month.

This a break for Tony Blair, who was starting to get a lot of criticism at home for not obtaining a quick release. But I expect a British frigate captain has much to answer for in letting his men get captured. I also expect some British sailors to be strongly criticised for quickly caving into Iranian propaganda and making those confession videos.
