I repeat again, it is a VOLUNTEER military, it is rediculous and no point at all to talk about numbers and it is another ploy to attack the idea of the war in Iraq. Prime example: he also has said that maybe we won't have another war like this meaning if Bush's daughters and other rich peoples kids had to serve we wouldn't have gone to Iraq. Lied, The lie thing tells everything. I won't waste my time with comments like that. I don't know why people won't admit that the un-intelligent agencies are to blame. Remember my opinion of how pathetic they are in the other thread? This lie thing must be payback from the Clinton years not to mention they are angry because Bush beat Gore and Kerry meaning the elections were stolen because the democrats lost. If anybody was mislead I'm willing to bet it was President Clinton and Bush because of faulty intelligence. I will change my opinion on this lie thing when it is proven that Bush did in fact lie but until then I give him the benefit of the doubt, innocent til proven guilty. I will apologize when and if this turns out to be fact. Did you forget what Clinton said about Iraq somewhere around 1999? My only comment on this is that we didn't think Bush was this stupid but he must be. We would've won this war if i was president, Dammit! Iraq, Syria and Iran would've been flattened, no power equals no war. Insurgents would be trying to survive with the basics, food.water and poop. I am an angry white American LSU fan male about these subjects:wink:
Honestly from a guy just exiting service, it cant get much worse. They are lowering their standards by leaps and bounds because recruiting is SO BAD. Its amazing how the technolgy is getting smarter but the majority of soldiers are getting dumber. More criminals are being given the chance to either go to jail or go to the Army, and then company commanders are wondering why their soldiers are getting caught shoplifting, B&E, and other dumb ass things. While I dont think a draft is a good thing, if there is another war within the next 5 to 10 years, I think it will have to be something they will be forced to look at.
U.S. Involved in Iraq Longer Than World War II America has traditionally fought short wars with a volunteer army (Mexican, Spanish American, Panama, Grenada, etc.) and long wars with a draftee army (Civil War, World War II, Vietnam, etc). The two current wars are becoming long-term wars with a volunteer army and our only real precedent is the American Revolution which is in no way similar. If the war drags on and recruiting continues to drop, a return to the draft will be inevitable at some point.
