    Breaux = Democrat = bad.

    Breaux would have been just more of the same for the people of Louisiana. Thank God he can't (not to be confused with won't) run.

    Breaux was one of the more moderate Democrats in the Senate during his time in and he often broke with party lines on a lot of issues. He's never been one to be blinded by his party. He agreed with Bush on a lot of things when most other Democrats wouldn't because it wasn't in the best interests of the party.

    Come on, Salty, even I can take off the Republican blinders from time to time.

    My second cousin ran for governor against edith. He's always been a dem. I told him that there was no way I'd support him as long as he had that D behind his name. He said the same thing..."C'mon "salty", you know I'm not a party platform person." It doesn't matter...if you don't agree with the party, then switch. I told another prominent politician friend the same thing. He then switched his party mid stream. He ended up getting elected, but I still didn't vote for him. I, along with just about everyone else, knew that he only did it to get elected. He has shown some promise, however, so maybe he'll work out (I hope so, because he is a good person, and friend).

    It's not just a republican/democrat issue. I'm not a big fan of most republicans either. I have no idea who I will vote for president. I don't have to know the stances of the democrats...they're dems, therefore I disagree with just about everything they stand for. I guess I'll have to pick the sorry excuse for a republican that gets the nomination. Dem = bad...republican = lesser of two evils.

    In this day and age, dems represent the far left of society. Abortion, welfare, higher taxes, socialized medicine, non traditional marriages/families, under funded military....these are just a few of the dems/lefts agendas that I disagree with. All dems may not believe opposite of me, but it doesn't matter. It's nothing more than a numbers game.

    Yes, I'm a registered republican....but I do not identify myself as a republican. First and foremost, I'm a conservative.....the democratic party stands for just about everything I'm against. Again, the republican party is the far lesser of two evils.

    Breaux may be an alright person. It doesn't matter..He's a dem, and he makes his living cutting deals with communist, and politicians. He accepts large amounts of money for any and all special interest groups. In my eyes, he's nothing more than a whore.

    Look...there are very few politicians I trust, dem or republican. As long as the democratic party is controlled by special interest groups, and the far left, it makes it easier to be a republican.

    Have you ever heard a cop use the term "democrat" to describe someone? Think about it. What kind of person do you think he's describing? Is that kind of person you?

    Oh stop being such a racist.

    When did I ever say I was a Democrat? I'm an Independent. I'm a registered Independent. I voted for Jindal this past election and I will most likely vote for him for gov. Unlike some, I vote for the best candidate who will act in the best interest for Louisiana and The United States and will do so without violating laws or Constitutional Rights. Most of the time, Democrats fit that picture.

    Partisan politics is at the root of the problem in America today. Politicians vote down party lines instead of their constituants wishes. Voters vote on stereotype party platforms rather than their own true feelings. Everybody should be working for whats best for the country, not for some political party.

    Speaking of sterotype party platforms . . .

    Partisanship breeds a sort of goose-step mentality where everybody follows the leader. I know democrats who are war hawks on military spending. I know republicans who think the religious right are a bunch of kooks. Party politics force people into supportng positions that they may not care about or even disagree with.

    Not lately, amigo. I voted for Reagan and Bush the 1st, too. This is not Ronald Reagan's Republican party. These neocon idealogues in charge are dangerously incompetent.

    Do you seriously think that repubicans aren't beholden to special interest groups, too? Have you forgotton the Abramowitz scandal so soon. Special interest groups and lobbyists have proliferated in Washington since 2000.

    Big Business absolutely owns the Repubican party in this decade just as surely as Big Unions owned the Democrats in the 60's. Both parties are corrupt and both parties cater to their exteme elements instead of their moderate ones.

    You have fantasies about mushroom clouds over our enemies cities. I have fantasies about lobbyists being outlawed so that politicians work for their constitents again, about a moderate third party somewhere between the extremists on the Republican and Democratic spectrum, and about holding politicians accountable to their elected jobs . . . not to the political parties they belong to.
