I think the difference is that the NFL doesn't have the rule collectively bargained with the player's association. If both the players and league agree, young players on the outside looking in have no real right to make the NBA let them in.

It just seems dumb to me, denying someone over the age of 18 the right to make a living, I think the NFL will have to allow them in eventually and I don't see the NBA ever changing the rule.

They are not denying anyone the right to make a living. There are plenty of jobs out there that these guys can do. It is just like any other place that sets minimum qualifications for you to work there IMO

    minimum qualifications?
Did LeBron James meet the "minimum qualifications"?
    What about Carmelo Anthony?
    should be "arbitrary qualifications"

The player's union is all behind this because the young guys are gonna run the older guys out of the league.

So much for the most qualified people getting the jobs.

Does anyone know how many people this would have affected in the last 5 years.

Well based on this it could make NCAA basketball better or even better based on where you stand.

NCAA stands to win big if this happens.

I think the NBAPU is looking to accept a 20 year age minimum...which would make players wait usually 1-2 years. There are conflicting reports right now, one says 3 years, one says 20 years old.
