Hell, I agree with him. I lived in Memphis for four years and I think I can safely say that it was almost worse than New Orleans, pre-Katrina. Anytime there is a drive-by shooting right outside your college's soccer field (and during a game), you know things are bad.
I haven't lived there (thank God!) but I gotta agree. Just driving through on the interstate makes me nervous!
You are kidding right? I think it all started in the 50's when people were "frat's"(preppy conservative types who might go to private school) , "cat's" (hot rods and motorcycle types) or "yat's"(blue collar type's). It's a term designed to be an insult for (potentially) under educated New Orleans area types who might be inclined to say "where Ya' at?" as a greeting and sort of swallowing the a in "Ya", thus YAT! Like saying some one is from the wrong side of the tracks. Today it could be an insult or badge of pride!
lets try as hard as we can to make what this kid said into some sort of offensive john rocker type thing. let be part of the problem.
...........thinking about contacting counsel. it's one thing to offend cajuns and memphis fans, but gang members?????? i speak for all gang members when i say i'm truly offended.
