seems to me you just like to decide which of my posts to believe just to fit your ideology.

yes you should. you asked if i would be happy if they stopped all drilling. i said i wouldnt be and that i consider the effect of the moratorium on the people of La to be a horrible thing. i spent a lot of my youth on the gulf and the oil industry put food on my table. ive even worked for brown and root. ive got emotional ties, but i try not to cling to them.

    so, believe that.

Blaming everything on Chaney reveals the political nature of using the moratorium to further political ends. It's revealing that Obama's administration is taking absolutely no responsibility for the federal role in this. It's as revealing as the fact that the federal government (Obama, Pelosi, Reed, etc.) went out of it's way to save the Auto industry, while it's going out of it's way to destroy the oil industry via moral suasion and actual moratorium.

Gee, I wonder which industry delivers more votes to the administration.

I'm actually not an anti Obama/democrat voter. For example,I will benefit personally from the health care act. I just have to call it like I see it...and this administration is using this spill to further (not so hidden) agendas at the expense of us Louisianans.

It's bad policy and it will result in the crippling of our economy which is largely oil based. A similar thing happened during the Reagan administration. The rest of the USA was sailing along on a great economy...which was based on LOTS of cheap, imported oil. It decimated the oil patch, and it took nearly a decade to recover. The skilled labor force left Louisiana. Oil companies left Louisiana. Joblessness was at record highs, Foreclosures happened at records that probably still are not eclipsed locally. We have to look forward to the same thing all over again.

Louisiana is the bastard stepchild of America. We are treated like a conquered nation. The federal government has trampled on our rights by confiscating a large portion of our royalties and not those of the other oil producing states. And they are knowingly and willingly going to send us into severe economic recession.

As Obama glibly said, "I am aware of that."

Edit: I just read subsequent posts and expanding comments about politics does belong in FSA, But the moratorium is a germane discussion in this forum because it cannot be separated from the disaster itself. I think it's just as germane to discuss the moratorium here as it is to discuss the effects of the berms, rock jetties and cleanup efforts...all of which have a political aspect as well. I will personally try to not turn my comments into general administration bashing. We should take care to limit administration bashing/supporting to the BP disaster.
