Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill Oyster and commercial fishing closed from LA/MS state line to South Pass. Bad.
Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill Speaking of confirmation, here's mine about the closures... Oil Prompts Closure Of Some Oyster And Fishing Areas - WWL - AM870 | FM105.3 | News | Talk | Sports
Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill yeah, figured that was coming. can't find anything in writing to confirm what I heard, so it may not be true.
Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill You better start watching out...Bob Breck is saying that after the cold front comes through on Monday that Monday night Tuesday morning the winds are gonna turn and be coming out of the east!!!
Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill been sitting around waiting to hear that this was gonna happen. too bad the weather is gonna suck this weekend. would like to take my kids on their last fishing trip for a while
Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill Now ALL fishing, including recreational, closed east of the river. The only exclusions are Lake Pontchartrain, Lake Borgne, and Lake Maurepas. http://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/news/?id=1799
Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill What I dont understand is why they arent using the Twin Spin to help keep the oil out the lake....they could line up strands of the booms against the spans and it would hold em in place and basically create a nice barrier
Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill That would be too late. They are going to boom off the Rigolets and Chef Passes, which is pretty much the only ways it can get into the lake now that the MRGO is dammed off. If they waited until it got to the Twins, it would already be in the Lake. I wish they would also boom off from the Biloxi Marsh to the Pearl River, and keep it out of Lake Borgne as well. But with the winds, Lake Borgne must be ROUGH right now. It would be very dangerous.
Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill Wouldn't work. Siltation doesn't happen that fast and the water is too slow moving when out of the channel and spread out from a crevasse to push back the tide. More silt would only cover the oiled area and entrap it making cleanup worse.
