I see Fred Flintstone has joined the fight.

Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill

This comment of mine concerning Thad Allen drew nothing but yawns. Early on in the crisis, I was listening to WWL radio in the cafe Kitchen and Allen was asked "who's in charge here?" by Bob Del Giorno. Allen's answer was "Well we're all putting our heads together on this one. You know we've never faced a spill of these proportions" etc...and this was when Allen was telling us that only 5,000 gallons of oil/day were leaking...not the half a million that is now officially estimated.

I turned to my assistant and said...."We're really in deep $hit now. Any time a military person of any rank doesn't know the chain of command; that's not good at all. And this SOB is an admiral."

Well.......Nungesser says President Obama should put someone 'with guts' in charge of Gulf oil spill cleanup | NOLA.com

No wonder the federal response was such that Nungesser and Jindal had to beg and cry publicly in front of the national press for seven weeks before the berm plan was approved...and several more weeks before actual dredging was able to begin.

No wonder at all because BP was calling the shots by telling Allen that they weren't going to pay for the plan because it was untried technology, etc.

Thad Allen may be a great admiral and military man, but he's out of his league on this. He has no technological expertise in oil production or wetland geology/hydrology and he has to defer to BP's experts because he has no other choice.

Evidently, "putting our heads together" means deferring to BP's vast expertise. Okie, the Brits are calling the shots and that makes us "de facto" colonial subjects of the queen again.

Thad Allen has to go...he has no credibility...there are posters on this very forum that have more knowledge of oil and gas production and wetlands ecology than Allen.

    :nope:.

So, apparently BP has had High Definition cameras down there the whole time.

City Brights: Yobie Benjamin : BP hides high-def video & oil spill volumes: RICO laws could be used vs BP

If they would have released this to begin with scientists are saying they could have gotten a better grip on how much oil was being leaked into the gulf. Once again BP is exposed trying to cover their tracks, and make this seem not as bad as it is. This is what happens when you let these clowns do whatever they want.

    interesting read.

    here is my question....

the congressional committee investigating this keeps ordering bp to do things and bp simply says "no thanks" and ignores them. can holder (on behalf of congress) go to a federal judge and get a court order for them to do so? and if they dont, hold them in contemp and start throwing asses in jail?

I vote waterboarding. That would leave you in charge, Okie. AND we can substitute water for recycled oil.

Another interesting point in that article, is about the dispersants and how they are used to hide the actual amount of oil released even though it would be easier to allow the oil to be more easily contained/collected at the surface...

...which brings up another point about who is really in charge here. Remember the government's demand that BP had 24 hours to show why they shouldn't be using this dispersant that is banned on the other side of the Atlantic? BP's response was that this was the best dispersant available and they were going to continue using it anyway. BP's response was basically: "bite me!" because the sole provider of that dispersant was a company headed by a former BP executive.

Thad Allen...take charge or resign...you can't be a yes man to BP as well as to Obama.
