Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill I noticed they opened a claims center in Slidell and saw a STPSO vehicle sitting outside. I'm assuming they're paying for security as they probably anticipate problems.

Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill That's good news. I just read an article where the Coast Guard guy said they collected 620,000 gallons of oil on Monday through the cap. Hopefully it will ramp on up. They also said they are at work fabricating a larger cap that will be able to capture almost all of the oil. To me, the vid looks like less of a gusher than it was before. Maybe it's just me though.

When the spill is being measured they refer to barrels...when the recovered oil is being measured they refer to gallons. That way, the spill seems minimalized while the recovery is being maximized. Way to go BP and Thad Allen (BP spokesman) :dis:
