I hate to be skeptical, but I think the odds are that I'll have a full head of hair before that happens.

I've been wondering something. If the top kill can't be completed, ie can't be plugged with cements, then can the mud pumping process be continued indefinitely? it looks like only mud is coming out now and the oil is being kept down. So, wondering if this is a method that can be done long term.

maybe if the top kill doesn't work we can stuff BP, Transocean, and Haliburton execs in the hole to plug it.

I thought the same thing. I'd whole lot rather have mud than oil in the water. The mud is abrasive though, so there is the possibility of it degrading the pipe and BOP, thus making plugging the well more daunting.

Here's a link to an article about the mud tests that were done before the blowout. It says that mud was probably leaking from the well.

Hearings: Concerns over mud leaking led to another test | NOLA.com

Does anyone know if this is why the top kill procedure may not be working and is this why they're shooting junk shot down with the mud?

Let's all be petty instead. There is a flag pin on his lapel, anyway.

That's ridiculous. He's applying all the pressure that he can apply which is very little. The true measure of his position will come when it's time to clean things up and settle the financial losses. Until then, his presence is nothing more than photo ops and an insult to everyone who lives here.
