Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill there were two completely different families with my last name who came here (lower Terrebonne) from France in the 1700s. I'm a direct descendant of one, and not even related to the other, so it's definitely possible I'm not related to him.
Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill sweet!! hopefully it won't be to long before you can do it again.
Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill Very interesting and informative thread. My summary: Oilfield TF members are reluctant to point fingers and understand that Mother Nature can be a real bitch at times. Lay TF people, who don't know crap about offshore drilling, want to hang anybody who set foot on the rig by the nuts.
Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill Appears a new temporary solution may be in the works by week's end: Suttles said BP is continuing to plan a “top kill” in which heavy drilling fluids are injected “at a high velocity” into the well to stem the flow of oil and gas, followed by an injection of cement which would seal the well. He said the “top kill” could be tried as soon as the end of the week or by the weekend. Until now, using top kill to close off the well has only been mentioned as a possibility. Suttles said that’s because BP had to perform diagnostic tests on the blowout preventer to make sure that performing a top kill would not further damage it. Engineers were specifically looking for the pressure readings at the top and bottom of the blowout preventer, Suttles said. “That is the primary piece of data we needed before we could move forward with the top kill,” Suttles said. “These pressures are fairly low compared to what we were concerned about and have been dropping.” Even if the “top kill” is successful, BP will still continue with the relief well because it is the only permanent solution to sealing the well, Suttles said. 2theadvocate.com | News | Leak outpacing storage — Baton Rouge, LA Please Lord, let this "top kill" work.
Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill BP told feds it could handle oil spill 60 times larger than Deepwater Horizon | al.com Some highlights: I think it's clear that the only real R&D on these deep water spills is being done right now. Just a little late.
Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill Nice catch. Got any pics? Post them in the Sportsman forum. Were they coated in oil? Might help when you barbeque them though.
Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill Link Oil arrives on La. shore, edges into key current Sure does seem to be a lot of foot dragging on getting this thing stopped. It getting into the marshes is about the worst thing that could happen.
Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill yeah screw it who needs the wetlands, probably wont be another hurricane in our lifetimes anyway, let the ducks and all the other wildlife just sop it up, DRILL BABY DRILL!!!
Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill That pipe they are using to suck up the oil needs a bigger vacuum on the other end! Spillcam
