Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill If the tube and the top hat and the junk shot all fail . . . its going to be August before the relief well is finished.
Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill Story is beyond f'd up. Very angry feelings as I keep up with it. Thanks though to everyone in this thread for keeping me updated, if the 75 days number is true, and/or 50,000 BPD, then this story is beyond absurd.
Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill And thats if a hurricane doesnt come through and screw everything up
Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill when i am in alabama i see bp stations, but i dont know of any around here. however, who does bp sell gas to, or how do i find that information. (ie, 7-11, circle-k, etc.) i really want to know because i will not patronize any place that sells bp gas. i will find some place else. yes, i am serious. there isnt really anything i can do other than show my displeasure with my buying habits at what i consider to be at best, incompetence, and at worst, a cover up.
Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill I know there are quite a few BP stations along I10 once you pass Orange, Tx
Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill to my knowledge, anyone that owns a gas station can get branded BP. all gas companies set their criteria on who to brand, and at what price. things like: location, how many pumps, what size store, easy of entry/exit into parking lot all go into it.
Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill as far as your stance, you are definitely entitled to your opinion, but BP is not the company to blame. They own the oil, so they're footing the bill, and doing everything they can to try to fix it. But this wasn't their rig. wasn't their equipment. wasn't their crew. Best real world analogy I can think of is this. Suppose you live near a large cattle farm. Someone unrelated to you or cattle farmer drives his car through the farmer's fence, and all his cows escape. Cows come onto your property and mess a lot of sh!t up. Legally, the farmer is probably gonna be at least partially responsible for the cost of repairs. But it ain't the farmer's fault that his cows got loose.
Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill This is really a lot more complicated question than you probably imagine. I'm assuming you live in OK. BP doesn't have any refineries in OK, so product directly from them has to come their Texas City refinery via explorer pipeline. If you don't live very close to explorer, then you probably won't get any BP product. If you do, then it's possible you could get some without ever really knowing. Most gasoline is fungible, meaning it's all mixed up by grade. They could be selling product in the spot market down in TX, or doing what is called exchanges (i.e. you give me product where you have a refinery and I'll return the favor where I have one and we'll both save transportation costs). The point is you could never figure it out. The best bet is just avoid BP branded stations.
Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill The problem with your analogy is that in this case BP is the one directing the actions of the other companies, so they own the lion's share of the blame. The other companies are at fault to the extent they didn't follow instructions properly or if they knew the instructions were dangerously faulty and followed them anyway.
Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill as far as im concerned, they are all to blame. and that includes the feds that possibly allowed the permit without all requirements being met. there are fingers pointing towards bp possibly covering up some of their decisions made that were a factor in this. and that 7 hours of data are missing does nothing to dispel that notion. just because it was not their equipment or employees, bp very likely had a hand in decision making. i cant think of anything i can do to boycott the other two companies, but i can try my best not to buy bp gas.
