word on the street is that this stuff has headed a good ways west of the River.
still a few miles offshore, but this is not good news for me.

haven't seen an updated photo, but if it gets west of Grand Isle, my fishing are is toast.
there ain't nothing bu open water and marsh from my back door straight through to Fourchon.

Not Grand Isle...please, not Grand Isle. We're heading out there in June. Not gonna be fun if they can't plug that sucker quick.

Not going to happen this time of year, unless something really unusual occurs. I talked with the wave and current expert yesterday and he said that with the normal patterns we see this time of year, the oil will move west of the birdfoot, but it won't be the largest part of the spill, which will continue to threaten the eastern delta.

No, but they can clean up those beaches a lot better and easier than if the oil gets into the Bays. Once the marshes are oiled, there ain't much you can do.

Ok for the experts in here would this work???

Park a super tanker out by the oil leaks and use pumps to suck up everything water and oil into the tanker as it comes out the well....then take the tanker somewhere off load the oil into containers and seperate/process it there.

I guy from Houston called into Garland's show today and said that him and the guy that was with him created this process to take care of oil spills in Saudi Arabia...him and his friend just drove all the way down from Houston looking to go help with the spill and BP people told them that if they did not leave they (BP) would pursue legal action against them.

Seems to me that this would be pretty simple and efficient to execute.

As I understand the process, the containment box will be lowered over the leak, piping and lines will then be connected to the box to a tanker that will be topside. The ship will have the ability to separate the oil form water. Is that the "gist" of it.

Once the contraption gets to the seafloor, underwater robots will secure it over the main leak at the bottom, a process that will take hours. If the delicate procedure works, the device could be collecting as much as 85 percent of the oil spewing into the Gulf and funneling it up to a tanker by Sunday. But it's never been tried so far below the surface, where the water pressure is enough to crush a submarine.

How "deep" is the oil spill , i. e. , how far down does the oil suspend?

I've actually said a couple of prayers today that this containment box project works. I also know that it is dangerous so I will continue to pray for the men that are out there lowering the device over the source.
