Beck is not News. His show is entertainment and in it he dispenses information based upon the state of affairs as he sees it. It is not presented as news and it is not represented to be news.
Of course, neither is it a liberal suckfest so you cannot suppress the urge to denigrate it.

As bad as the oil spill COULD BE....this is a case of the media creating news instead of reporting AND they misrepresenation of the FACTS have a high percentage of ruining in the seafood industry then the oil does!!!

A reporter from CNN called me today and interviewed me briefly over the phone about the impact of the oil spill on my business for an article he was writing for their website. Here is a link to his article.

Oil laps barrier islands; BP grilled about oil spill at Capitol - CNN.com

He was given my contact info by the photographer from CNN who came in for breakfast the other day. First time I've ever been on a national media.

Stephen Herbert, chef and owner of Abita Springs Cafe on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain, said the potential impact was "tremendous." But Herbert, who holds a degree in fish biology and lived in the marshes for 10 years before entering the restaurant business, expressed surprise that the story has become a national one.
"I'm really astounded that the rest of the people in the United States really give a flip about this," he said. Louisiana's coastal marshlands have been shrinking at the rate of two football fields a day for a quarter-century, he said, "and nobody gave a flip about that."
Herbert's 16-table restaurant, located 25 miles from New Orleans, specializes in Cajun food, and at least half of his orders are for meals that contain fish. In anticipation of rising prices, he ordered an extra gallon of shucked oysters and another case of shrimp, but that was all his refrigerators could store, the 56-year-old restaurateur said.

Awesome reply, Steve! Where are the oil field opponents clamoring for the oil industry to help with coastal erosion, a MUCH bigger problem than this oil leak will ever be...and the oil industry played/plays a part in it.

Here's a story you won't see on CNN or Fox News or MSNBC. Instead, they will continue to post pictures of dead turtles next to the articles about the oil spill. Fox News even has the audacity to write that the pictures are of "oil spill victims". Outrageous!

Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill

I have heard a few things but they are keeping a very tight lid on it. They have closed an entire floor of the west lake campus and people liteally a floor under have heard nothing.

I do know the relief well was started Sunday, but the rig was on location for 3 days before that. Not sure if it was the govt or BP, but for some reason they delayed the drilling. They are drilling to 13k feet, and it probably will take less than 3 months, weather permiting. .

Personally, I think it was bad cement/liner (halliburton) and human error in controling the kick that resulted from it. There are rumors they didn't have their spacing right and tried to close the pipe ram on a tool joint (basically if they did that it wouldn't seal right and the gas kick would keep coming). The shear rams/dead man switch also must have failed since these should cut through or stop anything as a last resort. In the end, there will probably be very few people who know exactly what happened.

I agree the acoustic thing might have helped but we will never know. The pressure that came through the BOP probably caused the other failures, and could have just as easily sheared the acoustic device.

I pray for the coast and my friends in the fishing business. Hopefully they can get this under control soon, and from my experience with BP, they will do everything they can to make this right with those affected.

This isn't entirely accurate. They had already set their plugs for temporary abandonment (so the completion rig could get on top), and negative tested it. They were displacing the mud from the riser and had displaced below the bop. They were about to seal it when the kick came.

i heard that soon they will be funnelling the leaked oil to a tanker. and before that i heard they will funnel it for easier treatment.
