I agree. As much as it would be nice for the Saints to nab him, I'm going to go out and say that there's NO WAY Bowe is available past #22. Some of the Draft pundits have listed Bowe as the #2 WR behind Calvin Johnson and most have him as the #3 WR behind Johnson and Ted Ginn, Jr. Now, you still have the Smith from USC and Meachem from Tenn that could possibly throw a monkey-wrentch in Bowe's plans to be one of the first 2-3 WR's taken, but only if those two WR's had, let's say, outstanding personal workouts for certain teams, and Bowe didn't. Trying not to be too biased, but after Calvin Johnson goes, I think Ted Ginn Jr will be the next WR taken--if only for his "fan fare" and his long-standing recognition by the media.
Well Johnson will be the first receiver without a doubt. But after him there is a pile of guys that could all go early in any order. Bowe Smith Jarrett Meachem Ginn Rice Davis
uscvball, I really enjoy your posts and you're as well-informed a Trojan fan as I have come across.. so I can think of no better a person to ask this question. Do you have any idea who Reggie's closest friends on the SC team were? I've got a bunch of Saints highlight videos burned to DVD, and I always found it interesting that after Deuce scored a rushing touchdown this season, they showed Reggie turning around and low-fiving TE Billy Miller. It dawned on me that both are former USC players. You guys got a great hire in Morton, agreed, sad to see him go.. I think he's on the fast track to coaching success, and going to USC was a no-brainer for him, I'm sure. Especially since Payton gets a lot of the credit for the Saints offensive success. Morton's going to have a ton of talent at USC and of course the venue and that talent level will give him tons of exposure.. I don't expect he'll stay there long as he's likely going to have his own gig pretty soon. Brian ~Go Tigers!~
As far as I know, Reggie was closest to Matt Leinart. Reggie, Matt, and DJ are very similar in personality and always seemed to hang together. Beyond that I believe he was friends with Ryan Powdrell and Brandon Hancock, both excellent blocking FB's (who just happened to open a few holes for RB). And Reggie had pretty good friendships with the WR's including Steve Smith which is one reason I'd love for him to become a Saint. Morton is nothing short of outstanding. And I think you're right on the fast track. The receiver who stands to gain the most from him the next year or two is David Ausberry. Ausberry was the #1 scout team performer last year and has amazing size and speed. With Morton to teach him the finer points, he will be scary good. Travon Patterson has to work on his hands but with his speed, he'll make some great highlights. Anyway, there's just a difference in the way Morton works. Also, Reggie showed up to a practice week before last. Almost nobody recognized him until the practice was just about over and then he split pretty fast. He was rolling alone. He did talk with a few players and signed stuff for fans, took pictures. It's safe to say he's spent some of his salary on a very shiny watch.
A good joke and a fair question perhaps. I guess nobody asked the question after this: http://www.reggiebushonline.com/bush082706a.php
I don't believe my comment was in anyway stating that RB is not a good guy or a savior to the Saints or NOLA. In fact just the opposite hes worth good money from everybody including his old college!!!
