I've never been a Boutte fan and it looks like he's not making a lot of fans with NFL personnel based on his combine performance. For one, he measured in at 5-11, which blew me away. I was thinking he was 6-0 or 6-1, not sub 6 feet. Secondly, prior to running the 40-yard dash, he told reporters he was going to run a 4.3, but turned in a 4.5 and 4.67. To make matters worse, Boutte had a vertical jump of 29 inches, which ranked last among all WRs at the combine. According to current projections, Boutte is now seen as a third round pick at best. He still has his LSU pro day to change some minds, but things are not looking good for him currently. IMO, I don't see him getting drafted until the 5th round or later, just based on his poor work ethic/attitude, poor performance on the field and his injuries. If things don't work out in the NFL, I guess the good news is he can always play in the XFL or USFL.
I think he’d do well in the XFL/USFL. Speaking of which, I am definitely enjoying the new XFL season right now.
It’s possible that his injury was more extensive than originally thought. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt. But his future is not as bright as once thought….
Too funny. I just wonder how much, if any, is that situation going to affect his draft status. If I were an NFL executive, his poor decision making would be too much to risk a pick on.
The combine is a load of crap. There a lot of great receivers who are not speed burners and and/or great leapers. Some just have an innate ability to get separation. Based upon his combine #s, a lot of observers have a man-crush on Anthony Richardson of Fla. Some GM will be foolishly waste a high draft pick on him
