The guy could play football and he earned his ALL-SEC honors. I've never understood his unpopularity among some "fans". He gave up a million dollars to leave pro baseball and come to LSU.
I think one of his main problems was that he was so cocky and arrogant. I think that is one of the reasons so many fans seemed to root against him. It just seemed like when he made a mistake (INT), it was never HIS fault. Being from Shreveport, I always liked to root for him but when the local news stations interviewed him almost daily, you start to realize what type of guy he was( a pompous prick). Then it just got harder to root for him. I never hoped that he would do bad, but I was glad when he left.
I gotta agree with this guy. Especially the "pompus p____" label. Booty was a loser and always will be. He seemed to always screw up on saturdays when I watched him. He was a huge dissappointment. Hope he invested well. Ok,,,,if you're wondering about the avatar, you've gotta see the guy holding the sign on Corso's left that says "lee corso is a peni_"
This is incorrect. He didn't give up millions to come to LSU. He had failed at baseball and decided to try to make it in football.
It is correct. Booty signed a contract that paid him a $1 million dollar bonus if he did not play football at LSU. To get out of his MLB contract, he had to return the bonus. He literally gave up a million of his own bucks to come to LSU.
he didnt earn crap. he was borderline horrid but lived off his rep from the high school days amongst coaches who recruited him. Plus your belief of giving up a million to play for LSU is bogus in the manner most portray it . He gave up a million because he couldnt hit a curveball and realized he would never make it in the show. He came to LSU in hopes of landing a big NFL contract. as an investment. Not for the university. matt flynn taking a backseat for 4 years has been for the team. the difference is transparent. this myth of him loving LSU being the reason he gave up a mill is nonsense. I dont blame him, mind you, but lets not kid ourselves.
Sorry Red but I have to disagree. I don't care what he did or didn't give up, he couldn't hit a curve ball and decided to go back and try his luck at football. There were some rumors about $$ donated to the athletic dept but who really cares. Word that I got was the team wouldn't play for him because of his attitude and racist remarks/nature. This came from a player on the team at that time. All I know is the peach bowl aginst Ga Tech wasn't looking so good until they gave him the hook and ran ol' RD out there and it sure looked like a different team after that. I'm firmly in the "This guy sucks camp" I have no idea how he left LSU with any records at all, he's never produced when it counted.
