This isn't a Republican Democrat issue. We are too involved in too many foreign affairs. We shouldn't be policing the world and nation building because it costs too many American lives.
1. We can't kill them all, we can't even kill most of them. 2. We could kill millions, but the other millions would become an endless jihad of immense scale. 3. But if some sort of deterrence threat would cause real peer pressure from ordinary muslims upon these islamic extremists, some thought should be given to it.
Apples and oranges. We bombed a country. These islamic extremists have no home ... they live everywhere, inlcuding the US. They have no fear of death. These terrorists are like ants. You kill one mound and they just relocate to another part of your yard, or your neighbor's yard. It will be impossible to eliminate them all by merely dropping bombs. I'm afraid this war on terror may have no end for many, many years. It's going to take all of the countries in the free world to put extreme pressure on those countries harboring terrorists. And these countries can't be afraid to use force when necessary.
We sure is hell could geaux after the queen ant which happens to be in Pakistan! I also think its safe to say that if we start bombing their homelands and masques they will run home and defend them. They won't be hidden or silent then, this has been one of my points about the strategy I would use. They will defend the homeland and family just like everyone else! :hihi:
Well, I doubt will see any such actions against Pakistan anytime soon considering that Bush just sold them $1.2 billion worth of weapons. He also signed into law last December an aids package to Pakistan worth millions of dollars over 5 years. Bush considers Pakistan our friend these days...
Big mistake IMO... For some reason this reminds me of the great relationship we have with our neighbors to the north and south? They along with the terrorists can come to this country anytime they want to, nevermind all the "security" measures we've done since 9-11. They seem to be all about "politics", just something to do as if you've really done something. I sure as hell would've started a whole new government agency, all of our agencies don't function very well as it is, a waste of money and time.
Flashback to Iran in the 1970's. They were our biggest friends in the middle east. They were the only country to which we exported advanced F-14 fighters and Phoenix missiles. But . . . the Shah may have been pro-American, but his people were islamic anti-Americans and they revolted and overthrew the Shah and have been sworn enemies ever since. We must not forget the lesson of the Shah when dealing with Musharrif.
It's absolutely a huge mistake. We don't learn from our past mistakes in the middle east. Funding Afghanistan to fight the Soviets. Funding Iraq to fight Iran. Pretending Saudi Arabia is our friend. Pakistan has done little to curb the extremists in their country. But they allowed us to use their airspace so we can go into Afghanistan. They've only done enough so they can get something from us.
I agree, Red always brings up Pakistan. Mushariff is another one, like the Saudi's who are in a very tenious situation over this stuff. They want to keep their power and wealth, of which Mushariff gained through his own coup, but they want to "help us." They know where their bread is buttered Pakistan though has a bunch of these Al Qaida freaks in these tribal areas where it's like the old West. I think we can use Mushariff like he's using us. We've got ground troops and agents in Pakistan, in these areas trying to find these a-holes. When you hear of somebody captured in Pakistan, we're the ones capturing these dudes........without a semi-friendly relationship with him, we would never be allowed in there.
