Whew ! islstl... thanks for all of your hard work and efforts keeping us all updated !! GEAUX TIGERS !!!!!!!!
I don't think so kctiger...We can take the strength of schedule and the computer rankings and use those to propel us, I think? Although the AP vote would DEFINITELY put us in there, there are other ways...
I assume we stay #3 in both polls. In fact that's exactly what I want. I want to see all 7 computer polls putting LSU as #2 and USC as #3. I want all pollsters to know they made a mistake in licking USC's ass. Does it get any better than that? P.S. Our SOS is now guaranteed to be better than USC's by .08. If Boise State wins, it's better by .20.
A lot of people criticize the BCS and talk bad about it. But folks, our shot at the NC is better because of the BCS. Sure, their are flaws, but if it was still up to the AP and coaches, I wouldn't feel as good as I do right now...Now lets beat georgia!!!
Hold on, brother, lemme see if Palm has any new info...and he does! Dec 6 The day has gotten off to a great start for LSU. Syracuse spanked Notre Dame 38-12, which will give them the #2 ranking in Colley, provided the Tigers win their own game. It was not quite perfect though. Western Illinois lost to Colgate 28-27 in a blizzard in New York (ironically, refereed by Mike Winter). That game does not count in the BCS SOS formula, but it does matter to a few of the computers, specifically the NY Times and Wolfe ratings, where LSU currently trails USC. Still, LSU is now in a position where, if they can win their game, they are the favorite to go to the Sugar Bowl. This space will be updated throughout the day as news warrants. Also, I will be updating the BCS ratings page after each game.
Wait a second...doesn't seem like you can have it both ways with Miami: if they project that much closer to Georgia as a result of finishing higher in AP and coaches than previously assumed, then don't they also project that much closer to finishing ahead of USC in two of the computer polls??
Thanks, islstl!! Are you a math major or something?? Math is my absolute weakest area so I really admire people who can use logic and decipher numbers...guess that's one reason I married a math prof.!!! Okay, guys, I'm just as excited as everyone here with these new developments. But let's not put the cart before the horse. We don't want to sound like USC fans and their ABC/ESPN PR machine by assuming that we are in the Sugar Bowl already. Coach Saban always says we should respect our opponents, and this game could be close. LSUfan is right--it will be nice to watch the football game without thinking about the computers. The only numbers we have to concentrate on are the ones on the Georgiadome scoreboard. Hey, even I can handle those numbers!! The Tigers will take care of business tonight and we can count down the minutes til the BCS announcement Sunday evening. GEAUX TIGERS!!!
Do any of you think that some of the pollsters will be tempted to manipulate their votes in order to help USC stay #2 in the BCS? If they drop Georgia down far enough, or vote Miami (OH) high, enough, etc. Man I hope that LSU kicks Georgia's butts tonight and we finish #2!
