I remember the Woody Hayes incident really well. I was six or seven, and we were spending the weekend at my grandparents' house in New Roads. Nobody could really believe what they'd seen. As an aside, Hayes was very contrite and actually struck up a friendship with the kid he punched. Apparently, they were friends until Hayes died. Today, I suppose Woody would've been buried under a jail. As for Petrino, he is definitely a POS,and Louisville made a deal with the devil.
Here's objective. You're right, it wasn't about an affair. It was about an affair where the mistress was hired into the Athletic Department to work for Petrino over more qualified applicants. It's about this mistress getting paid what amounted to nothing other than hush money by Petrino. It's about Petrino lying to his boss, the Arkansas AD, about the whole thing from start to finish only to get busted ... in this case, busted up by asphalt. I'm still left shaking my head about the liability Petrino put on Arkansas ...

New Roads was definitely a cool place. I used to love walking down to False River with my grandpa, especially on Mardi Gras morning. It is a pretty little town.
