You are making a very huge assumption here ... don't underestimate the politics that would have been involved in this decision. In case you forgot, Georgia beat the crap out of Tenn and that would have made some ADs think twice about voting for Tenn.

The reality is, we have no clue what the outcome would have been.

But at the very least, they would have had a shot. Now they have no chance. I think that you are making the huge assumption. I think that for the points I mentioned, they would overlook the head-to-head between Tenn and UGA.

But then again, that may be why they changed the rule. They may have actually changed the rule to try to help Tenn (becasue there may be some sort of bias against Tenn in the ADs) and it backfired. Anyone out there know who they were trying to help?

Let's be honest here ... if LSU was in the same situation, would you be willing to forgo the SECCG to benefit Georgia's chance at a MNC?

Something tells me the answer would be NO...

And let's not forget this rule change was made before Tenn played Miami. Nobody thought Tenn would beat Miami and be ranked this high in the BCS ranking.

I am not sure I am following you here. Or maybe you are not following me...

I didn't say anything about anyone being willing to do anything. I am sure that UGA and Tenn are kicking and screaming to get the rules bent into their favor. All I am trying to say is that they should NOT have changed the rules a few weeks back. That is the only fair way.

Why do you think that it is the high road to have the SEC use the "new" rules and have us not bitch about it? That is what I don't understand. What is so fair about that? Can you answer that?

I think that we have every right to complain to the SEC about the change that they made. It was an unfair change and it is hurting LSU. So, go back to the first response that you made to this thread and re-think your position.

Based on when they made the rule, and having it include non-conference outcomes, it looks like they were trying to identify the team finishing the strongest. The problem is, everyone up to this point has won all of their games and unless Tennessee loses, it will be decided by the new rule.

If Florida would have lost to SC, it would have been pretty much over right there without the rule being involved. If Georgia would have lost to Auburn, it would have been pretty much over right there without the rule being involved. If Tennessee losses to Kentucky, it is over right then and there without the rule being involved and Florida goes to the SEC CG.

But still, because of the rule, if Florida loses to Florida State, its over for Florida.
If Georgia loses to Georgia Tech, its pretty much over for Georgia because of the BCS drop and Tennessee will slip in by virtue of the head to head win with Florida or by being 5 spots over Georgia.
    Etc...Etc...

Once again, I would have decided it by home field records.

And UGA could have beaten UF, and UF could have beaten Tenn, etc...

I did not say that any of the teams deserve it more than any other team because of on the field play. Obviously it is a three way tie. But now I would like to say that...

I would like to point out that with this new set of rules, a UF team with 3 losses (overall) has a chance to go the SECC game in front of 2 teams with 2 losses. There is no way that UF has a chance to go under the old system. The ADs would not have voted that way.

I will admit that logically, the ADs may have very well voted to send UGA instead of Tenn because of their head-to-head matchup, BUT they may have pulled their heads out of their arses and done the right thing for the conference and the SECC game. Having UGA in the SECC game is not the right thing for the conference.

3 way ties are never going to be easy to break, and every team can bring up legitimate reasons why they should be the winner.

Some want to use home field records, while other would say that winning on the road is harder to do, and therefore away games should be used.

What about Rock, Paper, Scissors? That's fair, in that it gives each team the same chance.

I didn't realize you were opposed to the rule change ... I know most posts on this board thought the change was a positive one 3 weeks ago.

I don't recall seeing any poster here objecting to this change 3 weeks ago ... maybe I missed your objections!

Personally, I thought it was a good rule change 3 weeks ago ... and I still believe it, even if LSU doesn't benefit from it!
