Bo has been in pelican purgatory. Last time he was around here, LSU tried to tell us that logo cost a lot of money; ahem... looked good.

He's already a championship DC, and I think he'll be adaptable to the current talent we have. Think we'll have to sign some bigger LBs for the 4-3 defense.

I think we’re gonna see a shift away from the bigger LBs in general in favor of the speedier guys due to the emphasis we’re seeing on the spread, the RPO, and the passing game. Look at Clemson’s LBs in the NCG: Skalski was totally unproductive except for pass rushing on blitzes and making tackles across the middle of the field. They didn’t let him go man to man with anyone. Meanwhile, they used Simmons all over the place. I think the 250+ pound linebacker is a thing of the past unless he can move like Devon White.

Speed has been king for a long time, its a fine line you have to balance. Go to skinny and then all of a sudden people are running for 250+ on you every week.

I agree that if you start playing guys that are too undersized at LB, you risk getting defeated by the run. But I think in terms of the traditional range of sizes for LBs (210-260) we’re going to start seeing a lot more guys on the lower half of that scale. Patrick Queen is 227, Marcel Brooks is about the same, but taller. I think we see a lot more of those guys than the Jacob Phillips types going forward.
