I'm not a power at Nebraska, but Solich was absolutely run off too soon. He was 9-3 when he was fired. If you really thought he should be fired you should have done it the year prior when he was 7-7. Instead you give him a boost of confidence and he shakes up a coaching staff that had been in place for 15+ years. That new staff included Pelini as DC. The others from that staff are all solid coaches. The one I like most though is a Callahan holdover. Shawn Watson did an excellent job as OC. I think he'll simplify the terminoligy and put in some wrinkles that Cally wouldn't have. I also believe he'll go back to being more balanced.
As more of a traditionalist, watching Callahan's west coast offense in Husker land look about as comfortable as watching your parents make-out... When I was a young kid, I HATED Nebraska because of the arse-kickings they gave LSU in the '86 and '88 Sugar Bowls...brutal thing for a child to watch--specifically THIS guy, who at 9 years old would have to run outside and beat a tree with a bat to expend anger when LSU lost.... But as I got older, I started liking all those traditional programs outside of the SEC: Nebraska, Michigan, Penn State....but ALWAYS a FAR 2nd from LSU. I wish the Husker program well in large part to Pelini. He's been phenominal for us and deserves to be the head coach at a quality program like Nebraska.
