    A blues story:

In 1993, I was stationed in Millington, Tn teaching Navy "A" Electronics school. My wife and I had tickets to the Grand Opening of BB King's club an Beale St in Memphis. My favorite bar in Memphis (Rum Boogie Cafe) that's right across the street from the opening was where I was wasting time till BB's opened. I walked into the bathroom and practically ran in Greg Allman. Noone was aware he was there. I shook his hand, offered him a drink at the bar with me and my wife. He accepted and we had several. He got on the stage with some guys, played 3 songs, let me join in (I SWEAR), and I got to meet, drink with, play with, and boast about it for the rest of my life. When we left the Rum Boogie, we went to BB's and sat 2 feet from the front of the stage and watched Albert King play for about an hour. Then, in walks Jeff Healey (escorted by his drummer) and sat at the table with me and my wife. You've never met a nicer guy, he was great. BB came in towards the end and sang while Jeff Healey played guitar (BB DID NOT play his, said Lucille wasn't with him). After he left the stage and was standing next to my table, I asked him to sign the back of my ticket and he refused, saying he never signs autographs and his UGLY wife gave me the nastiest look I can ever recall getting from anyone. After that, I forgave BB, cause he's married to the ugliest woman I've ever gazed upon.
    All TRUE!!!

As for my feelings on the blues, I agree with All the blues men mentioned. However, NO white boy has ever (except maybe Warren Haynes) sang the blues like Greg Allman. And,,,,,his brother Dwayne (god rest his soul) played the BEST slide guitar I've ever heard. The BEST example of this in on the Layla sessons done in Muscle Schoals, Alabama for Eric Clapton. Yeah, Eric played alot on the album, but the best licks recorded came from the hands of Dwayne. I HIGHLY recommend "Somebody loan me a dime" by Boz Scaggs. All of the guitar work on the song was done by Dwayne Allman. It sounds like it was recorded yesterday. I don't know who mastered the song, but it's AMAZING. Look around on the net, it's available. If you can't find it, email me, I'll send it to you. You'll love it.
