i live in central Kentucky and was going out to eat with friends that afternoon.... i turned the game off, jumped in the car and went to eat my crow... turned on the radio to the local ky feed and heard this..... ...that's better than sex....
I live in Virginia, and not all of the games were nationally televised in those days. I was able to listen to Jim Hawthorne's call on an Internet stream of the radio broadcast. I couldn't believe it!

Told the guys who came down for the Tigerfan Open last fall that I was cooking burgers for a Cub Scout campout in that park and listening on the radio. Me and the other cooks abandoned the grills and ran to where a guy had a TV outside his camper, almost in the exact spot where @KyleK had his camper set up that day. I've heard an extended cut of that UK radio call. If the one @kcal posted had continued, you'd hear the analyst do a good job of pulling himself together and then give a very good breakdown of the play's design and why it worked. He was a homer, but he was a pro.
