I could have fixed it with one phone call. I know a good mechanic who will come to your house and fix stuff and he charges a lot less than a repair shop. $50 an hour vs $90 to $110. I found him on Craigslist and he has been my mechanic since 2007.
His name is Mike Wicker. He stays pretty busy so it could take him a couple of days before he can get to you. He is a lot better than the other mechanics I have used on Clist. Don't have his email but his phone # is 225-806-3741
Thought about it for a minute. The water pump had to be good because it wasnt leaking. So I put it back on then blasted the heater lines as well as the radiator lines. Put it all back together with a new thermostat and she works fine. No longer over heating. The heater core probably still has some of that shit because I am getting some back flow through the tube but I think that eventually that will fix itself. If not I'm sure I will hear about in the winter when the heater blows cold air. With friends like you
