That's an impressive list of aircraft flown. I've ridden in the C-130, C-141 & C-5. What was it like flying Fat Albert?
Flying the C-5 was really great. You would think with it's size it would be a real hand full, but is very responsive not unlike a C-130 and much more responsive than a C-141 which I would describe as driving like a truck whereas the C-5 would be like driving a luxury sedan. Additionally it had a large flight deck with crew rest facilities and a galley.
Once I went ashore to the intel facility in Rota Spain as the carrier headed back to Norfolk. We were going to fly back on a scheduled C5 several days later. We got all loaded in and took off for Norfolk (home). At some point the loadmaster or whomever, woke us and told us that the pick up in Norfolk had been cancelled, and we were going to Dover, instead. So, three of us landed in Dover with no transportation. We took a cab to Norfolk, several hundred bucks.
Not hiding, but asses were whipped! When you run an option offense and your only option is QB running the ball, that ain't much of an option!
Been there, done that, but Im afraid Army will have its way this year! But . . . (and I quote) "Don't give up the ship."
This is my favorite ride...... I arranged for myself, my mom, and my sister to catch a ride in this beauty. We went from Burbank to Santa Barbara, had lunch at the airport, and flew back. Amazing.
In hayward Ca. near where I live the executive airport on weekends somebody has an old WWII bomber B17 restored.. I think you can go for rides. I might check into it. I see it on landing path as it comes right over our house. Also toured the Uss Iowa in Long Beach when my wife and friends went to Disneyland me and my father in law went and toured it. He was on the carrier in Vietnam time. I think it was the Kitty Hawk but I may be mistaken.
