yes, i am aware that people delude themselves. i see you have pat tillman in your sig there. yes he is a hero. a man who realizes the foolishness of religion and goes to war to kill religious extremists. the world would be better if more people could think like him, and less like you. according to the religion most of you practice, pat tillman is in hell. indescribably stupid. religion makes killers, religion is terrible. religion is to blame for terrorism. you people do not see it, you are blind. you shake your fist at the extremist religious fanatics and their silly beliefs, then bow down and pray to your own stupid sorcerer. if you people were born to terrorist parents and taught muslim extremism, you would be terrorists too. you dont have it in you to think for yourself. you represent the most unfortunate qualities present in humans.
I don't practice any religion. I don't know why he went to war, but I have respect for anyone who would give up the riches of the NFL to fight for what he believes in. I believe in Jesus, the risen Christ. I don't believe in doing things for God (which is what the word religion means, doing things for God). Religion is not at all about belief or bowing down and praying to anyone, it is about gaining the merit of a deity by your own works and righteousness. Extremist Muslims believe that by killing non-Muslims they will get to Paradise and have the services of a thousand virgins daily. You might be right. I was raised Catholic into the system of mass every Sunday, confirmation, communion, the seven sacraments, reconciliation, etc. I followed all that religion until someone introduced me to Christ. The sad thing is that many Muslims will not ever meet anyone who would introduce them. Martin, you clearly do not know what the word "religion" even means, so why don't you quit now while you are ahead.
wow, that is quite a bit of nonsense. i congratulate you on your ability to be so amusingly unable to understand anything.
You would be unbelievably surprised at my actual ability to understand things. All you can do is flame and attack away at those who have any kind of faith.
the very idea of "faith" is lunacy, and people who have faith are acknowledging they care more about what they would like to believe than what is actually true, or they do not feel like analyzing what they have been indoctrinated with. there are no two ways about it. faith is stupid and completely irrational, everyone who believes it is being an idiot. you could believe in reality, but i guess you just don't have it in you. keep reading your magic book. maybe you can find some neat spells, then you can use wizard telepathy (prayer) and contact your invisible man in the sky to have him cast spells on your behalf.
You are incredible, Martin. Have you ever marched in a band or in the military? Everybody starts out with the right foot except for one dolt who starts out with the left foot, then he insists that everyone else is out of step. That's you. You can continue to believe with all your heart that you are the only one in step. But please shut up about it because the rest of us can just smile and know that it is we who are in step.
in a marching band, the correct course of action is the one that allows everyone to agree and do the same thing. in the real world there are right opinions, and there are stupid ones that lots of people believe anyway. at one time, people believed in zeus and atlas and posiedon. now some people kill for allah, some stick needles in voodoo dolls. you worship an invisible man in the sky.
TigerRagAndrew... TigerRagAndrew, do you go to church? Do you pray? It's pretty lame for a Christian to deny having a religion... makes your statements about being convicted to your faith all the less credible.
That is because you do not understand the definition of the word religion. And to answer your question, yes and yes. Religion is a system of man doing things to please their deity. Judaism is the religion of adherence to the law as laid out in the Old Testament combined with yearly sacrifices in repentance for the year's sins. In addition to that, you had to be born into the lines of Abraham and be one of the 12 tribes of "Israel" descended from Abraham to be a true Jew. Islam is the supposed religion of peace, but throughout the Qu'ran we see commands by Allah to kill unbelievers and you will be rewarded in the afterlife. Catholicism is a religion of belief in Christ plus adherence to the commandments, participation in the holy sacraments, praying of the rosaries, belief in the infallibility of the Pope and trust in the Magisterium and college of cardinals, confession, communion, and reconciliation (really it is just altered Judaism+Jesus). All of the above, plus whatever other "religions" currently existing on the world today involve the ability of man to do things to please his God. I believe that God gave the law to the Jews to show them that they could not reach heaven through their own works and righteousness (in effect, that it is impossible to please God through your own actions and works after the original sin of Adam caused us to fall), but that they simply and finally must believe and accept the finished work of Christ as their Savior. That is the bedrock of my faith and that is why I cannot call myself a member of any Christian religious denomination; they all try to add man's works to the finished work of Christ.
I see what you are trying to do here, but please do not analogize Martin to the person out of step in the marching band. In fact, I believe that the majority of America, while professing some kind of religious faith, in fact is in their own marching band in step to the wrong music. In fact, I would say that 95-99% of the professed Christians in America have no idea what true Christianity really is, and they are just as lost as Martin.
