Today's definition of freedom and tolerance means conform or gtfo.

It is no longer acceptable to be an idiot, bigot, racist, homophobic, etc.. Whether we agree or not, this is a slope where we will eventually define acceptable behavior by law and not social conduct.

    It is troubling.

I have no problem with what these students are doing no matter their reason. They are 100% free to protest for whatever they want. In fact, I am just glad this was peaceful. I just hope that these events do not translate into PC laws.

    Exactly right.

For once we have a peaceful protest that doesn't turn to shit.

I dont even care about the reason. Some people are passive. Some aren't.

The guy had a choice to make and made it. He has to live with it.

Good point and a lot to do with why it got to this point to begin with. Guy is not much of a leader.

On the topic of college kids being outraged:

    http://www.theatlantic.com/politics...tolerance-of-student-activism-at-yale/414810/

What is needed is for once when some person or group is outraged over something minor and they appeal to whatever authority, that the authority would just reply with "we understand your concerns. They are stupid and minor and you should get on with it. Your outrage is stupid".

I am tired of people apologizing.

    Off topic I apologize.

I read the whole thing about the Yale Halloween costume controversy, it is fascinating. I will recap it for you.

Yale administrators advise students on what sort of costumes are offensive or not appropriate

Yale students appeal to one of their advisers or whatever that they are adults and don't need costume advice

Yale adviser person writes incredibly articulate and thoughtful email to her peeps, pointing out that students like to have fun and it's all ok, not a big deal.

Said Yale adviser person and her husband , both employees of the university who are resident advisers or whatever, get hammered by idiot students, including hardcore bitch who shouts the fuck out of the dude on YouTube on campus, to which he replies with, with incredible patience," I do not agree" and he is is told to fuck off and screamed at.

So anyways, like I said, the problem is that no offended person ever, and I mean never ever ever, is told to just shut the fuck up and that they are talking nonsense. Every single time, the person is told "we understand your frustrations" or whatever. And this is a lie. they should be told the honest truth, that their concerns are idiotic and to get their shit together. This is another way the left fails people, by accepting and encouraging their claims of victimhood.

A few days sure can change things.

Changing the President isn't going to change the culture in Missouri. Here we are almost 200 years after the Missouri Compromise and not much has changed in the heart of the state.
