If this tanks Missouri's season, that will be 20 players who will not be playing in the NFL or transferring to another division I school. Or ever getting a job in Missouri again.

Protests are fine, even trivial ones. But extortion will not be tolerated by the university, the state, or the public.

I hate to minimize what they're protesting but their issue is that racial slurs were hurled at some students and the President didn't respond. I don't really understand this. I mean, they're not saying the president hurled racial slurs, just that he didn't respond to the incidents well enough. I mean, I guess he should have been more forceful especially with the climate up there but to think he should leave his post, unless there's more to it, seems extreme.

wasnt the only issue, apparently this has gone on for a while, one kid was allegedly assaulted and the swastika in the dorm room in human shit.

but no extortion is not the way.

I'm sure the president doesn't condone any of those acts and if the scum who did the acts are caught he would expell them and turn them over to the law. I don't see how he can be held responsible for the criminal acts of a few.

Yeah, I read about that. There must be more stuff than people having the N-word shouted at them and some sick fuck with the feces. I gotta imagine there's racism like that everywhere. Not that it's right but it's not like he could just make it go away if he wanted. But I'm not there so I can't really say for sure. Maybe things are terrible up there. I find it interesting that this morning a football player already came out and said a lot of the team wasn't on board with the plan. Imagine you're a senior with out NFL prospects and you could lose the end of your career over this.

In the end, i think they'll learn that taking such a hard line isn't smart. Say you won't play until it's addressed to your satisfaction. That at least gives you leeway. But going after a school president who obviously is politically connected is a bit of a long shot. In the end, they'll play after the president does something but it won't be him resigning.

I agree with you on the players. However, staff is joining the students and plan to walk out in protest. Clearly, there is smoke here and probably a fire, that the president has to get in front of.

There is no Constitutional right against being offended. Heaven help us if it ever becomes so. Sometimes you just have to sack up and refuse to let some yahoo offend you.

But if one thinks there is serious discrimination, then he makes his case in court, like many thousands have done. Or he can take his protests to the street. But hunger strikes and boycotts that affect the whole state is overkill for this particular issue. The blowback is going to be worse than the problem.

they are doing things well within their rights. The president is taking note and put out a statement today, so clearly he is beginning to take this seriously.

Well whatever evil he has done, he offered his resignation just now on CNN to pay for it.
