Had a 37 and a 15 lber. Guy camped by us, who's fished there for many years, had several fish that were over 30 lbs.
The bite is on here.............. http://rare.us/story/this-water-sna...e-and-shocked-a-fisherman-with-his-big-catch/
Down at the camp in Belle River, got an invite to go fishing with friends Wed. Water falling, time to wet a line
Have a pic of the 37 pounder but not the 15. I'm holding it though. Shoot me a text and I'll text it back. Guy camping near us, who has had a camp there over 20 years, caught 6 over 30 lbs. Fished the Red River though.
Yes, falling is time. I grew up fishing bayou Nezpique. You have to fish a bayou on the rise. That's how I remember the river but this last weekend I didn't even look.
We used to catch some 150 lb plus gar in whitelake, in trammel nets, when I was in HS. Love that bar-b-qued.
I never had gar that tasted worth a shit. My grammaw was a great cook but when she made gar balls I slipped them to the dog.
I've never had gar ball. We'd skin them out, chill, then slice steaks on a Butcher Boy saw. Throw steaks on pit. I know most people make gar balls and have never q'd it but trust me.
