dude you can't call players a bust till they graduate. shoot carson palmer was considered a bust till his senior year. You never know what they will do their last year. just look at bennie.

funny you mentioned him since i heard a story long ago how fess was so highly heralded as you pointed out but there was some other player on the team at the time who threatened him about stealing the limelight. threats to his well-being if he did too well. some upperclassman I cant recall offhand. ill have to check a roster. but fess was apparently a very bright student, very cerebral so to speak which isn't your norm in hoops recruits...which contributed to his struggles during his stay because he was never comfortable. he certainly never looked comfy. not sure how much of that is true but was interesting to hear. im certain that didnt cause him to miss those ft's vs bobby cremins team however.

The lists of the recruiting busts certainly brought back memories for this long time Tiger fan. I am deeply dismayed that Chris Pettaway was mentioned with the rogues, convicts, miscreants, academic casualties, and transfers. I do recall that he was an OL from Florida and never developed the strength for his position. Due to some injuries he was able to get the start in a game or two at the end of his final year of eligibility. The media expressed how well he actually played in the game. Sure he was overrated but he had perseverance like a walk-on, remained a TIGER, and won my admiration.

Hmmm, all 5 of these transferred. I haven't kept too close of tabs on them since then, but I don't think any of them have been particularly impressive.

I think we all know about Rick Clausen. He did beat LSU, but other than that, he hasn't been anything special at Tennessee. Amp had to sit this season out, but I don't think he'll be anything great at that little Florida school. Barrington Edwards had a fairly good season at UNC, but not as good as he was hyped to be by a long shot. Did Lavelle play this past season? I don't even know. And didn't Matt just get a DWI up at Arkansas? He hasn't played yet, but he transferred because his Dad was sick or something. So I wish the best for him.

lavelle had a pretty good year considering he only played about half of the season. he had a few big catches for cal and ran kicks back as well.
saw him run a reverse or two. didnt score much for sure.

yeah stoltz was arrested for dwi with a couple other charges.

barrington had an average year at best.

Why is 4.2 straight line speed a Shame? You should be a shame of yourself for calling out a soph who hasn't seen the field. Xavier is one of our premier sports athletes who will be in LSU sports hall of fame when he's done (I don't think #3, #9, or #80 will). How can you call him a bust when he's the best track & field athlete we've ever had. He hasn't had enough opportunities in football to judge. This kid will make more money & have more success than #3, #80, & #9 running track.

Calm down. You obviously are a big fan of Carter. The references to Carter, here & pretty much anywhere else, are about football. Track is irrelevent to the conversation.

I'd rebut this, but CParso has done a fine job.
