This is getting interesting. However, the Rose Bowl is the most prestigious of all the bowls, and I think they would much prefer pitting a #3 team against a #5 team much more than they would a #5 and a #10 matchup.

That's amazing and hard to believe. These Big-10 schools historically live for the Rose Bowl. The chance to thaw themselves out here in the middle of the freaking winter. Then again, I guess Miami would be nice this time of year as well. ;) I have to admit that I am kind of surprised by this.

Im not buying this. THe Rose Bowl is all about teams like Michigan and tOhio St from the Big Ten. The Rose is the most tradition oriented bowl, they will not pass up on Michigan who many argue is the real number two team. They are so worried about making the most marquee match up, dropping Michigan would hamper that oppertunity. Im not saying LSU/ND isnt a huge match up. Im just saying that this season Michigan has played as well as anyone and were jumped as the number two team so there isnt a rematch. Why wouldnt you want that team in your bowl? Michigan is the one certainty for the Rose Bowl.

While it would be fun to lay down a spankin on ND, I would rather the Tigers play Michigan....

Why? because LSU would be the underdog and gain more respect by beating what everybody says/thinks is/should be #2 in the nation, Michigan.

And if LSU played and beat Michigan and Ohio St. wins then LSU will be the #2 team in the nation, but if LSU plays and beat ND I don think there is any chance of being ranked that high.

Unless LSU were to blow out Michigan(highly unlikely), they are unlikely to finish #2. Usually the loser of the championship game is voted #2. Being ranked #3 with a huge win over a great Michigan team would be huge for LSU.

i bet ESPN/ABC has something to do with this. They have a hardon for Charlie Weiss and Notre Dame and the Fourhorseman and Knute Rockne. however you spell it. I think herbstreit wet his pants when he watched ND play USC last weekend

Well no, if USC loses to Ohio State and LSU blows out Michigan, there is no doubt in my mind LSU finishes 2nd in the BCS. It all depends on how USC looks vs. Ohio State and how LSU looks vs. Michigan. Style points will dictate if we finish 2nd in the both the human polls and BCS poll.

Ohio State losing, and they will only drop to #2 in all polls.
