And your belief that this book isn't Holy is one of the many reasons we completely dismiss the cult called catholicism. I have to be honest, I haven't met many catholics that I can get along with. It's not just your so called religion, but the overall way you look at the world. For the most part it just turns my stomach.
really. Catholics that i know are predominantly not defined or conditioned by their religion. They would classify themselves first as Americans, Cajuns, Republicans, etc...before their religion. Maybe you're talking of hard-core catholics, which i really don't know any--and i know a lot of catholics. Now, IMO, "Born again Christians", "Jehovah Witnesses", or my cult "Objectivist" are more aptly labled "Cults" with a world view skewed (corrected-thanks Ayn) by their philosophy.
Have you read any of my most? I consider the Bible extremely Holy. I do not consider all the books in it to be literal. I'm the guy saying it is free of contradiction and error. You clearly know very little about me and Catholicism. The Bible along with Sacred Tradition are the basis of the faith. Catholics hold the Bible in the highest regard. I'm sure you are content to live in your ignorance.
I've read most of your post supa. The overwhelming theme is that the Bible is not meant to be taken literally and most of it is just nice "folklore", "poetry", "drama". I know enough about the catholic church to loathe it.
That's because that's mostly what it is, especially the OT. Job is a play, the Psalms are poems, Genesis is a good bit folklore. Exodus is mostly a history. The genre of each book does not diminish its inspired nature or its holyness. I seriously doubt it.
I disagree with you that all of the books in the Bible aren't literal but I don't think it is really a salvation issue if you don't believe it. Like I've said before the only salvation issue is this, I also don't believe that following tradition is inherently evil, unless it is unbiblical, in which case tradition is to be totally disregarded. I really don't want to get into a debate of Catholicism vs. Protestantism because we've had it before and I know that there are saved Catholics just like there are unsaved protestants. I will try to explain the Biblical contradictions I can later, probably tomorrow, because I am pretty tired at the moment.
Would someone please explain this... Someone left this comment, but didn't leave their name. I couldn't care less that they disagree with me about something, however I'm curious about what this statement is supposed to mean. al gore?? What the hell does he have to do with anything?
