It's pricey but worth it. The food is exceptional. Mark Cox goes outside the box of Texans and their beef love, but does not go overboard French, or any other ethnic influence. The service is very old school and professional. Plenty of the servers drive bmws so they take their job seriously. Wine list is arguably the best/most diverse in town, and the restaurant itself is stunning. It's not the place for a casual lunch or dinner but it is the best overall. Only restaurant that could touch them would be Cafe Annie. A close second would be Tony's or Masraffs. Steakhouses here are unreal but that doesn't count as they are too myopic in scope. Just check out the web site. Local to where? Isn't Sbarro a pizza chain?
My favorite Tex-Mex in DFW would have to be La Hacienda Ranch or Uncle Julio's--both are great. In Fort Worth, there is a cool Tex-Mex place called Joe T. Garcia's. The food is only okay (there's no menu; you can get either fajitas or enchiladas and have to pay in cash), but folks go there to get a seat on the patio. It's gorgeous, especially at night with the lights in the trees. There's a pool on the patio, too, but I've never seen anyone in it. Last spring break, we went with another family, stayed the night in Fort Worth, took a cab to the restaurant, and enjoyed two pitchers of margaritas, while the kiddos drank virgin strawberry daiquiris. Who the heck CARES if the food was good. The drinks were spectacular.
Have not eaten there in maybe 20 years but I remember the food being really good. Don't they have that "swirl" margarita? Their salsa was killer fresh too. And maybe there are other locations, but I want to say it was on Lemon Ave? For some reason that sticks in my head. Gonna have to get some tex mex today, now that you have me craving it.
There is one on Lemmon Ave, but the one I go to most often is on Keller Springs in Addison. They've also now opened one in Allen @ Stacy Road and 75. Yes, they have swirls--and theirs are probably the best, as are their steak fajitas (must be all the garlic butter that's melted on top of them. Sometimes, they also have a special with a single order of fajitas and a broiled lobster tail. It's enough for two.
I have eaten at Doe's Eat Place in Greenville, Ms. It was probably the best steak I have ever eaten in my life. And it is just a little bitty building that used to be a store. You hafta walk through the kitchen to get to the tables. http://www.doeseatplace.com/
Me too. I used to be the chef at the lighthouse point casino for a while. I was intrigued by the tamale making ferris wheel contraption thing.
