A few years ago one of my fishing buddies told me that they were tearing them up at Myrtle Grove off the bank. So we went. I saw hundreds of trout being caught. None of them off the bank. Fishermen in boats were hauling them in right and left just a little ways past casting range from the bank. I have a 10 foot surf rod that I could have easily cast to the spots where they were biting but I didn't bring it that day since it was in the dead of winter. After a few hours of frustration we drove to the culvert below Golden Meadow and Leeville and I caught a 17 pound redfish.
does this mean im invited to fish off your back porch. or is that code for come get my divorced wife out of her house.
I mean this in the nicest way possible, but I hope it happens to your neck of the woods before it happens to mine again. 3 times in 8 years is a bit too often for me.
Katrina put a few feet of saltwater in my house and ruined everything. My house is on the Gulf of Mexico, however I'm about 350 yards away from the water. I don't see my house getting flooded again unless we get another bohemoth like Katrina.
I'm jealous, wanna trade? I'm in a desert. Bad food, no salt water fishing, extreme heat and cold, high taxes. Paradise, eh? I'll even throw in the 3 legged chihuahua!
while not quite the Gulf, water is definitely less than 350 from my house. marsh is right at end of my street prolly 150-175 yards. but nothing between marsh and open water. and so far, I've been pretty fortunate to not get water in the house. Lili ('02), Rita ('05), and Ike ('08) all came within an inch or 2 from coming in. 3 close calls since moving into this house in '01 is more than enough for me. As a kid and then teenager, I thought it was kinda fun to take the pirogue through the streets of Montegut for Juan and Andrew. But my parents lived on a high ridge, so flooding never scared us. I no longer see the humor in rising water.
