Where are some spots to fish off the bank? I don't always have access to a boat but sometimes I just want to go throw the pole out. Can anyone share a few spots that does not have a lot of traffic?

One of my favorites was always "the culvert" just before you get to Grand Isle. You will typically see a couple of cars on the side of the road there. If the water is moving from one side of the road to the other, you will catch fish. We would also often drive out to the rocks at Fouchon. Caught one of my biggest ever redfish there.

Frank Davis' list from a couple years ago. Very good list.

any one of the bayous in Terrebonne Parish.
The farther south, the better the fishing.

That spot was absolutely amazing. You could reel them in one after another. Can't get to it by beach anymore though. :(

Thanks for posting that. I see a few with potential to check out!

Haven't been in several years. Did Katrina wipe out the beach there?

Actually, it was still accessible after Katrina cleanup. You had to plan on staying there during high tide though.

With Gustav, an average of 100 feet of Fourchon beach was lost. No longer accessible by vehicle. There is a little bit of it open for driving now, but you can't get much farther than about a mile down.

pretty good article on the area:

    Great pic, thanks.

Man, that is so sad that the Feds won't spend any money on this. I bet if they could shut the pipelines down for a month it would really get their attn and the money would flow.

Any public lake that is stocked annually. Fishermen catch lunker bass regularly even in University Lake. Fish don't have a breeding area in the lake, but they stock it with Florida bass fingerlings every year.

On Monday I drove down River Road to look for a place to shoot a pistol I had just bought. I found a spot to cross the levee and discovered a bar pit that looked like there were a lot of fish swimming around. I went back the next day with a rod and reel, a pole and some worms and in about 2 hours I caught 11 keeper bream and 3 decent sized catfish.
