What makes them so good is that they have a nice balance and don't kill the fresh oyster taste with the batter or fry them too long. The bread they use is great too.
i didnt know casamento's opened again. how long have they been back in business? i have got to go next time i am in nola, now that i know they are open again.
Not sure how long but at least 7-8 months. That is the 1st time I went back. It is pretty close to my brother's house. They have a weird schedule so maybe you just missed them. It is a seasonal restaurant and they have non-traditional hours. Think it is Dinner Thursday - Saturday and Lunch Tuesday- Saturday
My 90 year old grandma's fried fish... mmm mmm MMM Other than that Mike Andersons, Politz or Flanigans in Thibodaux on a good night.
Tunk's Cypress Inn on Lake Kincaid near Alexandria does an excellent fried seafood platter and with frog legs, too.
Great fired catfish at The Stockyard Cafe at the foot of the old bridge. Miss Evelyn has been cooking great lunches there for over 30 years. Best plate lunches in BR. Friday is always fried catfish/white beans and rice and some times Chicken Stew(!!). It's all good. On Wednesdays the lunch is Fried Chicken (best in BR!!) and Pinto Beans and Rice. Anyway, fried fish on Fridays!! Don't miss it.
This is probably spam, but the Stockyard cafe is one of the undiscovered gems in baton rouge for plain country cooking.
