That is honestly why I prefer Hunan's. This is Louisiana. They spice up the food real well to cater to our tastes down here while still remaining authentic. As for the menu items being significantly better than the buffet, you'd always expect this. At night the buffet is closed down at Hunan's anyway.

Having said all that the buffet at Hunan's for lunch is still greater than that of TGW.

Is Bamboo Garden that place on Greenwell Springs Rd? I haven't had that in years.

Bamboo Garden is on Essen across the street from India's and next to Benny's.

Not sure about a place on Greenwell.

The Chinese Restaurant on Nicholson is still there but the management changed about two years ago and the quality dropped. It was once a pretty good take-out place.

I had take out the other day from Nine Dragon in the shopping center along Burbank with Mellow Mushroom in it. It was pretty good and you definitely get your money's worth with the amount of food you receive.

I had some great Chinese in BR, but I'm sure they've graduated and moved on by now.

To add another little diddy, there is a little take-out place next to Albertson's on Airline@Highland called China Chef. They do a pretty fantastic job, too. They just opened another location in the new strip mall between Winn-Dixie and Allstar Ford on Airline.

Is the Chinese Inn on Airline the big pagoda-looking place that has been there since the 1970's? If so, I had an interesting experience in there not long after it first opened. After a nice dinner we were drinking a few of the typical "umbrella drinks" and after two or three Fog Cutters it was time for me to find the men's room. I wandered around for a while and finally found a door that said "Hoi Toi," reasoning that that was Chinese for "toilet." Keeping my head down I opened the door, walked in and shut it behind me - looking up to see that I had walked into a small private dining room hosting a birthday party. I was not asked to stay.

The food back then was very good. Sorry to hear it has declined.
