Hilarious. Until I saw FTARH, I actually thought I was the only one who liked the smell of ditto paper.

A few years ago, the wild and crazy brother from "wings" plays the role of Jack Torrance, Steven something or another, its not terrible but when you have a classic, especially with the amazing job that Nicholson did with that role you just don't freaking mess with it.

Not the best decade for film for sure. The decade started out very good in music but just petered out. MTV killed disco and got a lot of new stuff attention, which was a great thing. Lots of good music for 5 or 6 years. Then heavy metal morphed into something ridiculous and rap pushed aside a lot of good R&B. Video started driving the music and it dived.

Maybe I'm completely nostalgic, and to a degree, I agree with you about films (because my parents had me watching classic flims all of the time). The 80's films paled in comparison many times against that metric. However, the teen movies were pretty good and have become classics that the teens of this generation enjoy watching (at least, the teens I know--which is a lot, being a teacher.)

I have to completely disagree about the music. Sure, some of it was garbage; however, lots of it stands up very well. My kids love listening to 80's Michael Jackson, Madonna, Prince, etc. In my advisory class (like a homeroom) a few months ago, we were discussing icons of their generation, and I felt sorry for them that they didn't have any Michael Jacksons or Madonnas that they could argue would truly stand the test of time. They were mentioning celebrities like: One Direction, Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift, etc.

I feel sorry for you and them that ya'll had no Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Doors, Beatles, Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, Grateful Dead, ect. The 80's was the Decade the Music Died. Bye, Bye Miss Lucy in the Sky, Drove my Chevy to the Levee 'scuse me while I kiss the sky.
