I think they offer the big bucks to candidates they feel are worthy, if they get to assistants no way they offer the really giant contract. They would get an incentive laden deal.
Yes, that's been a long-standing rule. SEC was just the first conference to actually use put it to use. I think the Big 10 is as likely to shrink as expand in the near future. Penn St. going to the Big East makes so much sense it hurts, IMO. They'd be more competitive, not have to travel so far, still have the BCS tie-in, etc.
Agreed. Nobody's perfect, but Skip sure seems to have "grown" into a job that he initially thought he'd only want for a short stretch of time. He's bright, articulate, a proven winner and has deep, meaningful ties to the school's athletic history. What a good fit! Here's to Skip staying put for a long time to come. :thumb:
It is quite a ways to travel form Happy Valley to many of the other Big 10 sites that's for sure, about 1000 miles to get to Minnesota. But i don't think that Penn St would ever give up being in the BIG 10 and giving up all that money they pay out every year. The Big 10 isn't going to shrink anytime soon. I think they may be more likely to add a team from that region like Pitt.
