Bernie's got no chance. His goal is to drag the conversation as far to the left as he can muster. Winston is right that Hillary's only real competition says she isn't running....Warren. If I had to pick a darkhorse who might challenge Hillary it would be O'Malley.

No one is saying Bernie's a contender. He couldn't win the Presidency if he were the only candidate. Its just good to see someone that can bring up some progressive issues she won't want to talk about, and like you said, push the conversation to the left. It needs to go left, way left.

Didn't you understand what I said? There will be no conversation. Bernie will be talking to himself. Hillay is not going to respond at all to anybody who isn't a serious candidate. I'm sure Bernie would like to draw Hillary into a debate but its not going to happen.

That's the point, there are no serious candidates. He will be at the debates by default.

When was the last time a rich person ever gave you anything? Companies hire people and the reason they do it is to make money for the company. Got nothing to do with "giving" anyone anything. They need workers as much as workers need jobs.

"Boy, you've got it all wrong. I don't give jobs, I hire men. I expect you to deliver a fair day's work and for that I'll pay you a fair day's wage. You won't give me anything and I won't give you anything. We both hold up our heads." -- John Wayne as George Washington McClintock

I currently work for a pretty wealthy cat. Pays me well.

Corporations don't own or produce ALL the jobs. There are a ton of privately owned business that put a lot of people, ones that need and want jobs to work. Those are wealthy people and when the gVT taxes them out of business or forces them to buy ridiculous expensive insurance the jobs go as well.

That's their line and you have bought it hook, line, and sinker. They just want to make maximum profits by paying few taxes, they don't give you a damn thing. You work for your job and they will cut you loose in a heartbeat if business drops and they think you are costing them profits. Work is a symbiotic relationship. Nobody gives you anything.

What? I have a job because HE hired me. "The company" can't speak or sign checks. Fuck , you are so hell bent to tax the crap out of everyone you have lost the ability to make sense

I don't think it's that Shane, no one is saying tax the crap out of everyone but if I have to pay 18% then so should Warren Buffett, Mitt Romney, etc.

The NFL finally is going to start paying taxes. That's a nice change. Now if we could get corporations to pay their fair share and the rich to pay theirs, this country would be in good shape.

That was mostly symbolic - the teams paid the taxes. This from CNN:
The tax exempt status for the most profitable sports league has generated a lot of controversy, but the move to cancel that is largely symbolic. While the league is tax-exempt, the $1 billion or so it makes a year is distributed to the 32 teams, all of which do pay taxes.
"The owners have decided to eliminate the distraction associated with misunderstanding of the league office's status, so the league office will in the future file returns as a taxable entity," said Robert McNair, chairman of the league finance committee and owner of the Houston Texans.
The league saved only about $10 million a year from the tax break, according to the Citizens for Tax Justice. That's a rounding error for an enterprise the size of the NFL.
