To everybody, including the Army apparently. It has been reported that they can't determine if he left the base never intending to return or just left the base being stupid. God help us if they start executing E-3's for being stupid.

According to Army Times posted 15 minutes ago . . .

The Army says there is no truth to media reports claiming a decision has been made to charge Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl with desertion. The Army continues to review the case against Bergdahl, said Paul Boyce, a spokesman for Forces Command, on Tuesday morning.

"Sgt. Bergdahl has not been charged with any crime," said Pentagon Press Secretary Rear Adm. John Kirby during a press briefing Tuesday afternoon.

"No decision has been made with respect to the case of Sgt. Bergdahl," Kirby said. "None. There is no timeline to make that decision, and Gen. [Mark] Milley is being put under no pressure to make a decision."

There is clearly some political shit going on behind the scenes. High level sources have already said that Bergdahl's attorney has the charge sheet. The Pentagon doesn't like anyone stealing their thunder so either somebody leaked the info to test the waters or the Pentagon is being told to shut up.

That whole Rose Garden photo op is going to look a little strange at this point if/when Bergdahl gets charged.

It's not really that clear at all. Leaks happen for all kinds of reasons and it is more likely Bergdahl's attorneys than the Pentagon.

Bull Crap Winston, this has nothing to do with Obama. It has been the US policy for over two hundred years of bringing home our POW's regardless of why they were imprisoned. Our government honored that tradition when we brought him back to the US and out of captivity. Now that he is on US soil he is subject to the laws of the land and if he is a deserter, which he obviously is, then he should face the full weight of consequences that accompany his crime. Desertion, by law, is a tiered offense so a panel must determine the level of grievance of his desertion and then determine how he should be punished. This has absolutely nothing to do with incompetence or poor management.

Red you haven't figured it out by now that everything is Obama's fault? He has become the boogeyman. If it's one thing i will credit republicans for is that they are the absolute best at stirring up their base with bullshit "information".

they are also now trying to say their obstrionism is why stock markets are up and the economy and unemployment are leveling out. Meanwhile all they are trying to do is find a way to cut taxes for the wealthiest Americans, and sling mud, and their idiot base just eats it up.

No. NBC cited sources within the defense department. Someone at the Pentagon talked. Why? Don't know yet.

For me, I wouldn't classify the situation as "fault" or blame". Handling, involvement,responsibility...plenty to go around and clearly it is possible that the President had a share in how things went down. Is that a fair statement?

Indeed. The President had quite a hand in the booming economy, the stock market rise, and low unemployment.

Of course he has no responsibility for the fact there are 1.7MM fewer jobs today and many of the newer jobs are part time or that the median income of the middle class has dropped more under his administration than any before. Right?

Red derailed this thread and Winston took the bait.

We should have gone and got Bergdhal back and he should be punished accordingly. The price was very steep though. 5 years of captivity should not be accounted as time served either.
