How about Democratic Representatives Jim McDermott, David Bonior, and Mike Thompson going to Iraq to attach Bush from foreign soil in a visit that turns out to have been financed by Saddam Hussein’s intelligence service? Jimmy Carter's statement from England? Pelosi's trip to Syria? Please.
Total percentages need to be considered in comparison with percent of each particular race.....if you want to discuss race, that is, and you brought it up, nobody else did. Why not look at TANF demographics....they represent exactly what you suggest, a temporary boost to folks during an economic downturn. California accounts for 31% of the US total. Hmmm. I wonder why. Almost half of all recipient's families had no adult recipients. In 2000, the over 39 age category accounted for 18.3% of recipients. In 2010, it was down to 15.4. See, what happens in an economic downturn is that people have babies....lots of them. I guess if you are unemployed with time on your hands, irresponsible procreation is a result. And in CA, illegals have children repeatedly and then fraudulently claim welfare benefits. That is a reality. Not aging baby boomers, but single mothers with lots of kids.
I saw a cartoon today. It was titled 2012 election reason. It had a group pulling a cart loaded with people. The group pulling was smaller than the group riding the cart. The cart was labeled Takers and the group pulling was labeled Makers. Pretty much summed it up.

Second, McDermott's trip to Iraq was done before the Iraq war ever started in attempt to call for a diplomatic solution. More importantly, you are deflecting. The point of my post was that there have been attacks on consulates and embassy's during every President's administration but you guys want to act like this one is completely different but it's not. Lastly, I think it's telling that you never responded my last post (#264). This is a pattern with you: you bring up a topic and when someone presents facts that refute your point, you change the subject by responding to other posts of mine rather than the one that is directed at you. Real genius.... Now that we have established this TRUTH, let's take a closer look at your demographics because, once again, you have failed miserably to do your homework. On the outside looking in, and to one who is looking to pick and choose their demographics, your assumptions are correct. That said, blacks accept approximately 34.2% of TANF benefits while Whites accept 31.5%. Now, on the outside looking in, you would assume that since there are so many more whites than blacks in the US, that whites constitute a much smaller number of the TANF roles. BUT! When you consider that 25.8% of those below the poverty line in the US are black and only 9.4% are white, it starts to create a scenario where the number of whites who are committing fraud so that they can accept benefits are considerably higher. In other words, there are a shit ton of white people who are not below the poverty line but are accepting benefits from TANF. With this knowledge let's go back to my original point: aging boomers, on the cusp of retirement, who lost their jobs during the crisis are populating the welfare roles at a much higher rate than any other demographic in the country. Further, if you take a look at the Disability roles, you will see that they have increased by 1.6 million since 2007. Want to know why? Because they are baby boomers who were on the cusp of retirement (within 5-10 years) and lost their jobs. Rather than trying to find new work, they have elected to enroll in SSI disability.
