Yeah but it breaks it down nicely so one of us doesn't have to to illustrate a point. Save someone some cut and paste time.
Calling for Steele to be fired is ridiculous. That said, judging so far there are some good things I see but also some things that are cause for concern. I like that he calls a bit more of an aggressive game than Chavis. I also see some improvement in the LB's. The concern is the fact that Steele does not diversify the D enough. Nor does he make the necessary adjustments.
Right, we all knew this wasn't all on Harris. Yet, here we are discussing it in a thread that likens him to JJ.
As DC for Clemson, Steele's defensive ranking vs the run in the nation. 2009- 90th 2010- 29th 2011- 103rd 2012- 62nd Vs the pass 2009 - 17 2010- 28 2011- 80 2012- 87 For a guy who is supposed to be a linebacker guru, that's pretty terrible vs the run.
I'm not ready to make that comparison this year, he's looked much improved. However he didn't look good Saturday and the WRs just plain stunk. Because of past history I lay a huge part of the blame on the coaching staff. The first play of the game was beautiful. You can bet it was designed to go to the TE and the TE only. The coaches need to put in more scripted plays like that where the ball is thrown short and quick. Take away his having to go through his reads until he has a few high percentage timing route completions under his belt, then open up the playbook.
I definitely was not a fan of his hiring. No doubt Miles could have picked someone with a better resume. I think Miles liked the fact he is similar to Chavis and would need less time to adjust to a new D. I'd have much prefered O as the DC. Hopefully he proves to be a worthy DC.
