It seems this happens quite often when we attempt to select someone based primarily on their race/gender/etc.

I believe there are many highly qualified women who could handle the top positions but unfortunately we're continuously stuck with the likes of Palin, Clinton, Feinstein, Boxer, and Pelosi.

Remember when Bill Clinton said he didn't care who the Attorney General was as long as she was a woman? Janet Reno was the third choice after the first two couldn't pass muster. In a perfect world we would have a equal representation of race/gender/etc....but to select someone based on anything but their qualifications just screws us up more.

I don't see anyone rushing to balance the NBA or a program to add more male kindergarten teachers but we constantly place people in government service who aren't qualified. Sometimes it's to win over a certain demographic and other times to satisfy a quota but regardless of the reason, it rarely works.

Many qualified women probably don't want the job. Looking at how much abuse you have to deal with, I'm sure many are quite content in their current positions. For those who don't believe a woman can do the job...how can they think women could do worse than Harry Reid, Barney Frank, or a Tom Daschle?

Male or female...white/black/yellow/green/purple...I just hope we have a qualified candidate to vote for in 2012. It has been a LONG time (Reagan) since we had a good candidate run for president. Since then, it been the lesser of two evils. It's sad to think that clowns like Gore & Kerry are the best we can do in this country. :dis: How can we clean up politics are lure better candidates into running?
