    1. As the former VP candidate for the repubs, and a popular one with the repub conservative base, she was EXPECTED to play a role in the next pres. campaign.

    2. Nobody has seen such an expected player resign a governorship a year early prior to running for pres, 3 1/2 years before the election. The real campaign usually starts 2 years before the election.

    3. It was a complete surprise to everyone. Sarah did not do a clear job explaining WHY she did it, her talk was rambling, so folks believe they did not get the real reason, so they are searching for the real reason she resigned. That's fun.

    4. Palin is a polarizing figure. The repub base love her, esp. women and the religious right, while dems think she is not smart enough to be president. It all adds up to make an interesting person to watch.

Well. Governors don't generally resign w/o serious drama. I'm puzzled why you're puzzled...

As for Franken - he appears to have won. Perhaps he'll be what those who elected him want him to be. Actors are no stranger to public office.

He does strike me as one of the loonier lefties. But c'est la vie.

Minnesota is not exactly known for electing fine upstanding scholars to represent them. Dont forget, they elected this guy as Governor.

if you listen to talk radio in central louisiana you would think that sarah palin is the next coming of Ronald Reagan or something. They wont shut up about the "ultra liberal media" bashing Palin. Which is funny because the only people i have heard criticize her other than comedians are Republicans.

People will have to be careful with him, he worked 30 years as a comedy writer and can probably come up with some zingers.

I don't know, I think the criticism is widespread across the political spectrum. Palin came off as a ditz, who would be a John McCain heartbeat from the Presidency but couldn't name a newspaper that she read. The Republicans are looking for a new leader now. I think they will keep looking.

A lady on Foxnews the other day, went in on Palin. Calling her undereducated and inarticulate. I was like wow, thats kinda unfair, the woman did win an election for governor.

She has a college degree, I wouldn't call her undereducated for a politician. Inarticulate perhaps, . . . for a politician.
